Strategic Grant Consulting Tailored to Your Objectives
Every nonprofit's funding landscape looks different, shaped by its mission, its history, and the communities it serves. Throughline Consulting starts by listening: understanding your organization's goals, capacity, and constraints before recommending a strategy. Whether you need a single grant written, ongoing retainer support, or a thought partner to help you think strategically about funding, we build an approach around what your organization actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all package.
The name Throughline comes from storytelling…a throughline is the connective thread that ties a narrative together from beginning to end, giving every scene purpose and direction. That's exactly how we approach grant strategy: as a coherent thread connecting your mission, your programs, and your funding, one that carries your organization's story forward with clarity and intention.
Fun fact: every photo on this website was taken by Nicole, camera in hand during whatever adventure was happening that year.
Full applications, letters of inquiry, and funder reports, written to align your mission with funder priorities and strengthen your case for renewed support.

Monthly Retainer
Board & Staff Strategic Planning Presentations
Sessions focused on developing an organization's strategic approach to grants — funder alignment, prioritization, and building a grant-seeking roadmap for staff and/or board.
Logic Model Development Workshops
Hands-on working sessions that build a functional logic model for the organization's programs.
What is a logic model?
A logic model is a visual framework that maps out how a program is designed to work: the resources you put in, the activities you run, and the outcomes you expect to see as a result. Think of it as a one-page roadmap connecting your day-to-day work to your organization's broader mission, showing funders and staff alike exactly how a program's inputs (staff time, funding, partnerships) lead to its outputs (workshops held, people served) and, ultimately, its intended impact (changed lives, shifted conditions, community outcomes).
Why are they important?
Funders increasingly expect nonprofits to demonstrate not just what they do, but how and why it works, and a logic model is often the clearest way to show that thinking. Beyond grant applications, a strong logic model gives your staff and board a shared understanding of what success actually looks like, making it easier to track progress, communicate impact to stakeholders, and make informed decisions when a program needs to adapt. For small and under-resourced nonprofits especially, a clear logic model can be the difference between a grant application that reads as a list of activities and one that tells a compelling, fundable story.
Speaking Engagements
Philanthropy in Transition: What Funders Are Getting Right (and Wrong) About Queer and Trans Nonprofits
Throughline Consulting offers speaking engagements, workshops, and panel participation on the shifting landscape of philanthropy, with particular depth in funding trends affecting LGBTQ+ organizations and the broader nonprofit sector.
Drawing on over a decade of hands-on grant strategy, fund development, and executive leadership inside a community-based LGBTQ+ nonprofit, these talks combine sector-wide philanthropic trend analysis with the lived realities of building sustainable funding models for queer and trans-serving organizations, especially those operating with limited staff capacity, in binational or border regions, or outside major metro funding hubs.
